IDF has two basic categories of national membership: full and associate. The membership fee is linked to the annual production of milk, from all species.
Full members have voting rights while the Associate members do not.
Each member country sets up a National Committee which:
# Is the focal point for national input into IDF
# Relays IDF's output in its own country
# Nominates representatives to IDF's working bodies
# Promotes IDF to the dairy sector in its country
# Is responsible for providing the national contribution to IDF's funding.
Honorary membership is granted to individuals who have made a special contribution to the Federation's work.

Through numerous meetings, reports, publications and the members only website, members receive a constant stream of information related to the topics followed by IDF. This information covers the issues, opportunities and challenges facing the global dairy sector.
Peer networking
IDF provides a platform for its members to meet and offers opportunities for interaction with colleagues from across the globe. Members can raise issues to seek guidance, cooperation or the pooling of resources throughout the IDF network of experts.The IDF network is an invaluable resource when confronted with new problems requiring solution.
