Crystalyx is licked by stock, not chewed or bitten, which results in a continuous intake of nutrients throughout the day.
The product is convenient to use, being available in 80kg tubs and 22.5kg mini-tubs which can be fed either at pasture or in yards on a free access basis.
Free-access to rock salt is recommended since Crystalyx contains no added salt. Animals will regulate salt intake according to requirement and will actively seek it out when deficient.

Dairy/Beef Youngstock : Cattle Booster

Grass declines in quality (digestibility) and quantity from June onwards. Grazing animals try to compensate by eating more grass but are unable to satisfy their energy requirements and as a result there is an energy gap. Grass is a particularly poor source of minerals and trace elements which significantly affects the health and performance of all ruminating animals creating a mineral and trace element gap.

Recent studies at Newcastle have shown:

Growing cattle with access to Crystalyx grew nearly 10% faster than a similar group on grazing alone, again, even though grass availability was plentiful for both groups.




Sheep and Beef : Standard (High-Mag for Sheep)

After lambing, lactating ewes at grass should be offered Standard Crystalyx to reduce the risk of grass staggers (hypomagnesaemia).

Equally, suckler cows should be offered Standard Crystalyx to reduce the risk of grass staggers (hypomagnesaemia) and is ideal where there is a mixed grazing situation - particularly on hill farms where cattle and sheep are often together. Copper is not included in Standard Crystalyx to facilitate this feeding situation.

Ewes : Extra High Energy

Feeding for 6 months instead of 6 weeks prior to lambing has now become an established practice with many sheep farmers. Feeding Crystalyx during early and late pregnancy achieves a 15% better utilisation of forages (supported by our research programme). This gradually builds the ewe's reserves in an economic way.
As well as being lower in cost the system is easier on the ewes, and the staff looking after them as there is a reduction of stress.

The system is beneficial equally to the shy feeders, older ewes or any ewes which have broken mouths.

Finishing lambs will benefit from Extra High Energy Crystalyx. Late lambs and those unlikely to finish from grass without supplementation should have free access to the licks after weaning. Cattle Booster is the ideal specification for a deer supplement. From 20-25 red deer hinds plus calves per Tublyx, or 10-15 per Mini-tub with average intakes of 75g/hind/day. Cattle Booster stimulates appetite in deer and provides all mineral and trace element requirements.
Being naturally cautious animals, deer may take several days to accept the product, especially at grass. Once they have tasted the product it may be licked voraciously for a period and then eased back. Shy feeders all have a chance to take the product. Deer producers report optimum health status, faster growth, better pasture utilisation and large savings on bought-in concentrates.
