Milk Recording is an essential management tool in today's modern, cost efficient dairy farm. It involves the regular measurement of milk, fat, protein and somatic cell count of individual animals within the herd to assess the profitability of each animal.
Milk Recording is an essential management tool in today's modern, cost efficient dairy farm. It involves the regular measurement of milk, fat, protein and somatic cell count of individual animals within the herd to assess the profitability of each animal.
Milk Recording is the only reliable method to measure genetic progress in the dairy herd. Data on individual cows allows the farmer to make sound breeding decisions, breeding replacements from only his best cows and selectively culling of low profit cows from the herd.
Data is now being processed through the new IRIS milk recording system from the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF). The IRIS system provides a series of modern management reports to help the farmer make informed management decisions.
For herds with approved farm management computer software, we provide your monthly test results by email to ensure your computer records are updated without delay.
