Derek Deane, IFA Deputy President, has today issued an urgent reminder to all farmers to ensure they make their application for the 2008 Single Farm Payment by next Thursday’s deadline. This year’s application is more vital than ever as it incorporates the three main farmers’ schemes; the Single Farm Payment, Disadvantaged Areas Payment and REPS. Up to 40,000 farmers have still to submit their application before Thursday’s deadline. The Department of Agriculture will keep all their local offices open until 9pm on Thursday in order to facilitate applications. The deadline for new applications for REPS 4 is also on the 15th May, which is putting a lot of pressure on farmers and their advisors/ consultants. Derek Deane has asked the Department of Agriculture to show flexibility with regards to the REPS scheme as this is his first year of operation of the new system of application. |
