This week Teagasc are holding a seminar to show people how to maintain sports pitches in top condition. A range of experts will discuss all the aspects of keeping the different types of playing pitches and public green areas in top condition. The seminar takes place this Thursday the 10th of July at Teagasc Kildalton Agriculture and Horticulture College, Piltown, County Kilkenny. The seminar begins in the morning with speakers discussing a range of topics including turfgrass nutrition, irrigating sports pitches, renovating and repairing pitches, and tips on how to manage on a tighter budget. The afternoon will see a series of practical demonstrations that will give delegates the opportunity to view the latest machinery, reseeding techniques and aeration equipment used to maintain the playing surfaces and keep them in peak condition. They will also be able to visit the commercial and industry stands.

Tony Pettit, Head of Kildalton College said: “This seminar and demonstration is being organised to assist all those whose task it is to look after the range of sports pitches in clubs, schools, colleges and county councils. The most up-to-date information on managing sports turf will be presented in Kildalton on Thursday.”
