The Minister of State with special responsibility for Fisheries at the Department of Agriculture , Fisheries and Food , John Browne TD , has invited members of the public to submit their views for consideration in drafting of business plans for the six Fishery Harbour Centres in Killybegs , Ros an Mhil , Castletownbere , Dunmore East , An Daingean and Howth.
The Fisheries Minister has strongly urged all those involved in the fishing industry as well as other stakeholders in the Fishery Harbour Centres to avail of the opportunity to make an input to the Business Plans. " The Fishery Harbour Centres are important economic engines for their regions and it is important that the levels of economic activity and returns from these facilities are maximized. The Business Plans will set priorities for developing the social , fishing and other economic uses of the harbours to the benefit of the broader economy , " said Minister Brown. Each of the above mentioned Fishery Harbour Centres will have their own individual business plan included as part of the overall business plan for the centres. The Business plans will outline the goals to be achieved by the Fishery Harbour Centres over the next five years , identify the strategy to be followed in order to achieve these goals , and the business plan will also detail an action plan for the implementation of the strategy. The business plans will establish business development priorities for the Fishery Harbour Centres and provide a framework for optimizing the fishing and marine related activities , such as the development of leisure , amenity and other social and economic facilities in the fore mentioned locations.
