Padraig Walshe, President of the IFA, has commended the move by the Department of Agriculture to seek Brucellosis free status from next April. The IFA President said farmers have dealt with considerable costs and inconvenience in the fight to eliminate the disease from the national herd. Mr. Walshe said, “The contribution made by the farming community to eradicating the disease must now be rewarded with a substantial reduction in the costs associated with testing.”

The IFA have sent a detailed report to the Department of Agriculture on the measures needed to secure the national herd, while at the same time to creating a decrease in costs and the relaxation of movement controls.
