Independent CSO figures have confirmed that farm incomes in 2008 were €21,000 with the situation in 2009 dropping significantly to below €16,000 for full-time farmers. IFA President John Bryan said that these figures are backed up by the fact that 50 per cent of farm families qualify for third level maintenance grants because of the disastrously low income situation in farming. |
