Brendan Smith, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, welcomed the Dáil's approval of a Supplementary Estimate for €50 million for his Department which the Minister described as “an essential element in securing the future of the Irish pig production and processing industry, worth €1.1 billion annually.”
Tom Turley, IFA Rural Development Chairman, has called for the Minister for Agriculture Brendan Smith to give more time to farmers that are finding it difficult to meet the end of year deadline for completion of work under the Farm Waste Management Scheme.
