Brendan Smith, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, recently announced that an agreement on export conditions for Irish beef going to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been reached. The initial agreement to resume exports was reached in October 2007 and was subject to the approval of plants and export conditions. A veterinary delegation from Saudi Arabia then came over in March of this year came over to inspect plants and discuss the terms under which exports could take place. Since then there have been related contacts and talks between the two countries. |
